Throwback Radio Thursday - "Try it Themselves For a While"
Published Thursday, November 19, 2020
We all know that selling a home can be one of the most stressful things people go through in life, a lot must go right to end up with that “perfect” buyer. Selling a home is not as easy as some people may think, and, for a lot of people, the for sale by owner process ends up being a huge waste of time and money. Let us go over why using a Realtor is the best option, but first…
Did you know that our very own Vince DePaul, Director of Your House Academy, started his career as a real estate broker and continuing education instructor in 1976? For ten years he produced and hosted a weekly, live call-in radio broadcast in Chicago called “Your House” where he was known as “Mr. Real Estate.” You will be able to read the content that Vince once broadcasted across the radio! The 13th topic we will be discussing today is a seller wanting to, “try it themselves for a while.”
ON AIR: Vince states, “Many people who need to sell their home think that being for sale by owner for a while is OK... after all, they can try it themselves for a while and then list it with a Realtor later on... yep, try it ourselves for a while... that's a good idea... nope, that's a bad idea...
Trying to sell your home yourself for a while when you already have plans to list it for sale with a Realtor anyway is just not a good idea. When you are by owner you are not in the entire marketplace. Your home must enter the entire marketplace the minute you know you need to sell... that time you'll spend trying to sell by owner usually won't get you a buyer and may easily lose you a buyer... that time lost cannot be made up... so, get a pro to get your home in the entire marketplace right away and don't run the risk of losing any buyer... and that's the real estate reality... and I'm Vince DePaul.”
Next week Vince will talk to you about the stress in re-financing. See you next week!
